team management

invites, roles, and access

inviting a new team member

  1. go to Settings → Team
  2. click Invite User and enter their work email
  3. they receive an email invitation, set their password, and log in
  4. they land on your tenant's dashboard with everything already connected — no setup on their end

if the person already has a chaos trace account (e.g., they're on another company's tenant), the invite still works. they'll see a tenant switcher to move between accounts.

roles

assign a role when you invite someone. roles control what they can access:

owner vs. admin

  • there is exactly one owner per account. there can be many admins.
  • only the owner can modify or remove admin members.
  • admins can invite other admins.
  • both have full operational control over connections, syncs, and team management.

removing a team member

go to Settings → Team, find the member, and remove them. their access is revoked immediately. nothing else changes — connections, data, and other team members are unaffected.

when someone leaves the company

if an admin, editor, or viewer leaves

remove them from the team. done.

if the owner leaves

admins retain full operational control. connections stay active, data stays intact. the only thing that might need attention: if the owner's personal credentials were used to authorize a connected system (e.g., their salesforce login), an admin may need to reconnect that system using their own credentials. everything else is unaffected.

someone signed up but can't find the account

if a colleague created a chaos trace account on their own (without an invite), they'll see a message that their company already has a tenant. they can request access from that page, and all admins and the owner will be notified by email. alternatively, an admin or the owner can invite them directly from Settings → Team.
